The Generational Shift; understanding technology sector mega-trends

At a high level, the Megabuyte view is that a generational shift in the use of enterprise technology is currently underway; if mainframe technology was the first wave, client server technology was the second wave, then we are currently in the third wave. There are clearly many strands to this generational shift and our Megabuyte Forum event, which is kindly sponsored by Wells Fargo and Norton Rose Fulbright, will invite C-level executives, investors and advisers in the technology sector to discuss and debate the underlying trends which will drive both opportunity and risk as the generational shift gathers momentum. The session, which will run through the morning and into lunch, is a must-attend event for any CXO, investor or adviser in the technology sector needing to understand key trends that will impact their businesses, investments and clients over the next few years.

Quoted Company Scorecard - measuring the health of UK quoted tech stocks

There has been much debate in recent years about the health of the quoted universe of companies in the UK tech sector. For some, AIM has been a vital part of the funding mechanism for smaller tech companies while, for others, the quality of some of the companies coming to the market has been questionable. In a report, to be published in conjunction with this event, we will apply the Megabuyte Scorecard to the universe of quoted companies to reveal how they have performed, relative to each other, and to the wider UK universe of private equity-backed and owner-managed vendors. At the event, which is kindly sponsored by Silicon Valley Bank, Megabuyte founder and CEO Ian Spence will provide insight into the key findings of the report followed by a panel debate bringing together quoted company CEOs and investors.

Security Software CEO seminar and drinks reception

The security software sector has always been one of the most dynamic parts of the enterprise technology landscape but, even by historically high standards, the pace of change in security software is blistering at present. Of course, change creates both opportunities and threats. But which vendors have kept pace with this accelerating velocity of change and which have not? What has been the impact of this on financial performance and valuation? How have changing technology trends impacted on corporate activity and what changes to the industry structure can we expect going forward? This event aims to present a variety of views on this subject and enable the audience to debate it.

After many years of fixed line market liberalisation, most European incumbents have lost considerable market share to cable companies, alternative network providers/integrators, competitive access providers, ISPs and resellers. Whilst incumbents try to reinvent themselves, for example with video services, many of their competitors have stopped growing and similarly are facing growth challenges. We review the European landscape, identifying growth hot- and not-spots, and assessing the effectiveness of various growth strategies, with a particular focus on the new build fibre access network opportunity.

Enterprise software CEO seminar & dinner

The accelerating adoption of Cloud deployment of financial management, human capital management and other enterprise applications, especially in smaller and mid-market companies, is prompting a fundamental change in the way CEOs and the investment community are viewing the competitive landscape. But is this change revolutionary or evolutionary? Are newer entrants to the market a serious, well-funded, competitive threat to the established order, or are they structurally unprofitable and over-hyped? This event aims to present a variety of views on this subject and enable the audience to debate it both as a group and one to one over dinner.
