Torex coming out the other side and slow contract closure hits Misys

As part of its recent trading update accompanying the announcement of the acquisition of Sophis (Premium Plus subscribers see here for details), Misys highlighted the possibility that some large contracts could slip into its second half (started November). This morning, the company has confirmed that some large deals have indeed slipped into H2 and that this will impact H1 numbers, particularly in the Treasury & Capital Markets (TCM) division. Notwithstanding these delays, Misys has made it clear that these deals are expected to close in H2 and that it is comfortable with current guidance for both this year and fiscal 2012.

Torex coming out the other side

Privately owned retail software vendor Torex Retail recently released is full year results and we had a chance to catch up with CFO Mandy Gradden to walk through the numbers and get a feel for the current trading and strategy.  For the period ending June 2010, Torex’s revenue from continuing operations declined by 16.8% to £146.5m mainly on the back of a very tough operating environment but restructuring meant that profits were actually up in the year. By any measure, the last couple of years have been difficult for Torex but the company does now seem to be coming out the other side. Premium subscribers can read our full review of the results in Newswire Plus and Premium Plus subscribers can also see the updated financials for Torex here.

The company is benefiting from strong market trends, which has seen revenues treble and the company reporting its first EBITDA profit in the year to March 2010, and the outlook is equally as positive, given the company’s ever expanding service portfolio.
