SaaS strategy emerging at Sage and Anite’s 4G driven first half
FTSE 100 business management software vendor Sage has issued its full year results this morning in which we see three clear themes; renewed underlying growth, realigned management and the emergence (finally) of a credible SaaS strategy. Revenue for the full year to September was flat at £1,435.0m but this belied a return to growth of 2% in H2 compared to a modest decline in H1. Anite’s strong 4G driven first half
As foreshadowed in the recent update (Premium Plus readers see here), Anite has reported a strong set of interims, aided by contracts unexpectedly falling earlier than expected (it’s not often we hear that!). Revenues were up 20% to £42.3m, and EBITDA up 59%, driven by the Telecoms business, whilst Travel was down slightly. 4G/LTE has been a key driver of performance, and underpins the company’s confident outlook, reiterated on a call this morning with management. The Cloud - from HotSpots to HotZones
We caught up with The Cloud CEO Steve Nicholson to hear about the company’s plans for new mesh Wi-Fi networks in London and other mobile data demand hotspots, and to get an update on company financial performance and funding strategy. The company is starting to re-invest after a year focused on debt repayment. Premium subscribers can read our analysis on The Cloud following the conversation here.
Avanti’s meaningless results
Avanti Communications has announced results for the year to June 2010, which are relatively meaningless given the significant ramp up in business that will now occur post the successful launch of the HYLAS1 satellite. For the record, revenues were £5.8m and a £1.9m loss after tax. More importantly, the company is sitting on c£100m of cash, with a working satellite at last in orbit. The company now needs to start generating the revenues to justify its £615m market value.
