Oracle focuses to become a one stop shop and there’s no stopping Blackberry (at least for now)
Global technology giant Oracle reported its Q1 2011 results late yesterday evening, beating the markets’ expectations. Revenue grew 48% to $7.5bn, ahead of the company’s previous growth guidance of 45%. Within the Software business, both new software and license updates & product support revenues were up 25% and 11% to $1.3bn and $3.5bn respectively. Efforts to turn around Sun’s business also seem to be taking shape with the hardware business revenue at $1.7bn. Premium subscribers can read our full review of the results here.
There’s no stopping Blackberry (at leaast for now)
Research In Motion/Blackberry appears not to be suffering from recent skirmishes with governments in Asia and the Middle East, reporting strong revenue and profitability growth of 31% and 24% respectively in the quarter to August. Indeed, the company’s outlook for the current quarter is for even faster revenue growth and record account additions, suggesting that market growth in mobile email continues to outweigh competitive and regulatory pressures, at least for now.
