CEO SaaS Strategies

Originally just a poorly understood buzz word, the term SaaS has become more and more commonly used in the IT sector over the last couple of years and is no longer a trend that can easily be ignored. However, as with so much technology terminology, SaaS means different things to different people. To some, SaaS is just another buzz word with no real substance whilst, to others, it represents part of a fundamental shift in the way enterprise IT is structured.

In conversations with CEOs as part of our work on the Megabuyte company intelligence service, we often talk about the move to SaaS and what it means for that company. However, one element which we often find is lacking from these discussions is tangible industry context about how others are dealing with the opportunities and threats thrown up by SaaS. CEOs ask themselves, am I developing my products fast enough or perhaps too fast? What are the key challenges that other CEOs face and how can I use SaaS to grow my business? It is this industry context that we aim to capture and analyse in our CEO SaaS Strategies report.

In preparing this report, we sought the views of some 30 CEOs on how they are dealing with the SaaS trend and overlaid these views on our existing store of knowledge on the topic. In doing so, we hope to have produced a report that will help software company leaders to gain a better understanding of how their peers are tackling SaaS, and that this may help to shape their thinking.
