Banking & Insurance Software - Quarterly peer group review
Readers won’t need us to tell them that it’s been a rough ride in the markets over the summer and the Banking & Insurance Software peer group has performed in line over the last month. It continues, however, to outperform the market on a longer term view; especially over 12 months where the average share price increase is nearly 45% compared to a 5% decline in the All Share. Meanwhile, valuations also remain at a premium to the wider Megabuyte universe but in line with the wider software peer group on a PE basis. We continue to see a positive trading performance from companies in this peer group but it would seem possible that the current machinations in the capital markets may take the shine off what was turning into a robust recovery. It also remains to be seen how strongly M&A activity will pick up from its summer lull.
