The rise of the smartphone, kick-started by the iPhone, has had a dramatic effect on the global mobile industry, driving rapid growth in mobile data, internet and application usage. The potential winners and losers are now becoming clearer, among network operators, handset manufacturers, mobile content and service providers, and mobile network equipment vendors. In the Megabuyte Mobile Services annual review, which is sponsored by Goldenhill Technology Advisors, we will examine the opportunities and challenges presented to mobile services and equipment players by the smartphone phenomenon, in addition to a review of share price performance, valuations and corporate activity in this part of the market over the last year.

The inaugural Mobile Services CEO annual roundtable dinner, which is hosted by Taylor Wessing, will bring together leading CEOs and investors in UK based mobile services and equipment companies to debate this topic. At the dinner, Megabuyte principal analyst Philip Carse will summarise the report findings. In doing so, Philip will examine the dynamics of the ‘smartphone effect’, focussing particularly on the challenges and opportunities that this presents for the multitude of smaller UK-based mobile-focussed tech companies, and the ability to generate a return in an industry dominated by large strategics. As with all Megabuyte Forum events, the dinner is supported by our sponsors and is free to invited guests.

This event is invitation only.
