Megabuyte Quarterly Review - Best practice in private company financial communication
The Megabuyte Quarterly Review presentation has two main aims. First, we review the key share price, valuation and M&A trends within the UK IT & Telecoms sector over the last three months. More importantly, we examine the patterns in the data in order to try to establish future trends.
Secondly, each quarter, the presentation focuses on one particular topic of interest to members. Our focus topic this quarter is best practice in private company financial communication and reporting.
Over the last decade, the advent of the Internet as a research tool has enabled potential customers, investors and analysts to gain unprecedented access to financial and corporate information about privately owned companies in a way that was simply not possible in a pre-Internet world. Our experience at Megabuyte is that some private companies have adapted well to this change and some haven't.
Our aim with this event is to understand how well private companies communicate their financial and corporate information today and debate the rewards and potential risks of a pro-active communications strategy on financial and corporate matters.
The event will include a panel session debate with leading private company CEOs and investors who will give their views on the matter and take questions and comments from the audience. As a backdrop to the panel session, Megabuyte analyst Ian Spence will present the findings of an extensive research project undertaken on this subject. In undertaking this research, Megabuyte analysts will use a proprietary grading system to assess the top 50 privately owned companies within the Megabuyte universe to find out which are the best and which are the weakest communicators. We will also be interviewing a number of CEOs in order to understand their motivations in communicating financial and corporate information about their companies.
As with all Megabuyte Quarterly Reviews, this event is open to all Forum members and is free to attend. Given the subject matter, this event would be particularly useful to directors within private companies and also private equity investors looking to understand best practice for their portfolio companies.
